For those who have a hum in their heart and a deep desire to hold nervous system informed space for their communities. These trainings are tailored for both new sound-makers and experienced ones alike, and offer a comprehensive education in sound meditation and sound-making experiences; combining somatically oriented space-holding, Deep Listening practices, collective and solo sound work, and the art of soundscape creation. There are two, 30hr trainings within the full education - Foundations + Practitioners Immersion leading to a 60hr certification. You can find out more about these below.

This is not a crystal singing bowl training. Here, you will explore sound work from the ground up, supported by science, mysticism, and individual experience. We learn to be listeners first, explore each moment with curiosity and care, and scaffold our way into instrumental work, voice, and creating sound experiences that have the possibility to nourish the imagination and bring us into regenerative rest.

No previous musical or sound experience necessary. These trainings have supported folks from all walks and backgrounds and has lead to folks exploring and offering sound in many different ways. The listening path is yours to follow!

ABOUT THE TRAININGS

Foundations is where we lay the groundwork for our sound education and sonic practice.  We step into this work through the lens of somatics, Deep Listening®, and the art of sound meditation, and lean into the wonder of both science (research based information) as well as the mystical.  There will be a focus on receiving sound in this session, for you to tune your ears to what you love and how different sound meditations can be shaped.

3 pre-recorded workshops are included in this training and will be required to have spent time with them before our in-person session.  Completion of homework and reflective work is required for your certificate.

Topics will include (not limited to):

  • The Science of Sound + Navigating Misinformation

  • The (Brief) History of Sound + Music as cultural and spiritual significance

  • Introduction to somatics + its application in sound work

  • Brainwaves + Nervous System states

  • Embodied listening practices

  • Slow initiations and explorations into instruments

  • Sounding,toning, and voice work

  • Introduction to Deep Listening - creation of both text and graphic scores, dreaming, moving, listening, imaginal work

  • Collective sound making and somatically oriented space-holding

FOUNDATIONS - 30 HRS


Practitioners Immersion is a deepening into the art of building containers for listening and sound creation.   This 30hr session is for folks who have completed the Foundations portion of this training, for a full 60hr certification.  Our focus in this session is giving sound, and we will explore hands-on how sound making can be a portal for attention, rest, awe, and community care. We will explore the most effective ways of offering sessions that could lead to deep rest and/or active imaginal work (theta and alpha), and have the opportunity to offer somatic sound experiences for the group.

3 pre-recorded workshops are included in this 30hr training and will be required to have watched prior to our in-person session.  Completion of homework and reflective work is required for your certificate.

Topics include (not limited to):

  • Playing and exploring graphic scores

  • Advanced playing techniques: layering, silence, pairing instruments, tunings

  • Field Recording basics, audio collage making, found-sound, and generating electronic tones through Garageband.

  • Real time practices for activating the Alpha / Theta / Ventral responses.

  • Space-holding for groups and 1:1 sessions

  • Contraindications

  • Ethics, Responsibilities, and Scope of practice

  • Possibilities for business models for sound makers

  • Offering your own sound experiences with compassionate feedback + inquiry with our group
